Dr. Shannon J. Scott, Psy.D, is a child and teen developmental and behavioral specialist and parent consultant with over 20 years of experience working with children, teens and adults. She is also the mom of a child who in 2009, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. It is her passion to have created a space that aims to address the unique emotional and developmental issues of children, teens and young adults with Type 1 diabetes, supporting them, and their families as they navigate their way through this journey.
Shannon J. Scott, Psy.D, (Doctor of Psychology), received her doctoral degree from the APA accredited Wright Institute in Berkeley, and completed her pre and post doctoral training at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco where she was Chief Intern. She has been working with children, teens, and young adults throughout the Bay Area since 1997.
Dr. Scott has maintained her private practice in San Francisco since 2008 and opened an additional practice in Marin in 2015 (located in Kentfield). Prior to her private practice, she gained a variety of experiences throughout the bay area working in adult psychotherapy clinics, schools (both elementary and high school), child and adolescent outpatient clinics, university counseling centers, and hospitals, in both emergency departments and pediatric units working with children with medical issues. She has a special interest and focus in the parent-child relationship throughout the child's developmental stages, and centered her doctoral dissertation and accompanying research on this topic.
Dr. Scott is a frequent speaker to parent groups, schools and other organizations throughout the bay area. She is the proud mom of two, one who has Type 1 diabetes, and knows firsthand, the amazing, complex, sometimes frustrating, and yet ultimately rewarding journey of parenting.
